capitalism should have been a tool

capitalism should have been a tool

not a goal

not an ideology

it shouldn’t have run us

we should have run it

we should have used it

instead of making it a way to use us

it should bend to basic morality

not be a way to create a new morality

profit should have been profit

not a need to make more because what was expected was already reflected in the stock price

it should have not been a repeating cycle

where more is no longer more, but is simply less than what could have been

it should have been a win-win, benefit for benefit

instead of an equation of how much can be taken

we should have used it to push past surviving

and reigned it in before the few started claiming all the surplus

capitalism, is simply, one human system

and thus, inherently, fallible

making it a morality

setting it up as a fight against another extreme

making it what we stood for

making it who we are

making it a good in itself

letting it turn hyper once it won

turning it into an excuse for bad behaviour

setting up business as an excuse for what is inherently personal (as all things are)

taking it from a tool to improve life and letting it spiral us back to towards subjugation

becoming, as humans, definitionally, things that buy

all so foolhardy

capitalism

you should have been meant to service us

too often, we seem, to be becoming, simply entities, to service you
